Bamboo Baby Products and Newborn Baby Gifts

While you wouldn’t necessarily know it, bamboo textiles are incredibly soft and have many qualities that make this fabric perfect for newborn babies.

Bamboo grows quickly and in so many places, it’s the most sustainable option available for fabric.  The benefits far surpass organic cotton in terms of softness, durability, and wicking quality, which is incredibly important for babies’ health and comfort.  Bamboo is starting to show up everywhere!

Bamboo is grown without pesticides or chemicals, and has a natural chemistry that makes bamboo baby products resistant to bacteria and microbes,  and they are 100% biodegradable. These unique newborn baby gifts are also hypoallergenic. They have a natural sheen to their surface and feel similar to silk or cashmere. The fabric makes these newborn baby products thermal regulating, keeping a baby cooler, drier, warmer, and odor-free.

Today you can find bamboo textiles in many baby products:
*    socks
*    hats
*    fitted crib sheets
*    blankets
*    hooded towels and
*    super-absorbent wash cloths

Surprise everyone at the next baby shower with the unique newborn baby gift of a bamboo baby layette.

You can even surprise the Mom-to-be with a soft and cuddly nightie of her own!!

My Favorite Baby Shower Game

Filed under: Baby Shower Games,Themes and Ideas — Admin at 3:13 pm on Friday, March 19, 2010

When I was pregnant with my daughter I had a really great surprise baby shower.  It was great because it was early 1970′s and we had both men and women (and couples) there – very avant garde for the time!!

My very favorite baby shower game was when they asked a series of questions about my preferences for the baby, and the guests had to guess what I would choose.  We all answered the questions at the same time.  The winner was the one who had the most “right” answers.

These questions included my preference for:

  • gender (this was before sonigrams!)
  • eye color
  • hair color
  • height
  • baby’s future career
  • athletic vs studious
  • favorite choices in music
  • baby’s favorite color
  • etc.

…and several others I can’t remember at the moment.  Some of the questions included either/or and multiple choice type questions, and they could easily be modified for either gender if it’s known already [for instance, tomboy vs femme for a girl, jock vs nerd for a boy - or a girl :-) ]

There were between 10-15 questions in all.  I remember It was great fun,  and no one got it exactly right!  In fact some of my guests were very surprised to hear my preferences!!

How Big????

When my first grandson was born, my daughter was living several hours away, and her mother-in-law set up the shower.

Among the party games was one where the guests had to guess the diameter of this very pregnant young girl’s waistline!

Measurements varied all over the place!

The winner?  My husband the engineer – who figured it out by approximating the size of her waist with his hands and figuring out the geometry.

Oh, baby Billy was born healthy and happy and is a budding engineer himself now – just like his Grandpa Tom!
